Debian packages

The Deian GNU Linux distribution, like man Linux distributions, is modular and divided in to 'packages'. Packages are software modules, application programs or library code that can be considered atomic.

Packages are installed and removed using a 'packahe manager' such as Debian's 'apt' or third-party 'aptitude' programs.
