Traksys-2000 key features
Traksys-2000 combines an easy-to-use mapping system with GPS (Global Positioning System) over-air. This allows fleet operators to track the exact location of their MCU500e enabled vehicle or GPS enabled hand- portable fleet at a low fixed price and in real-time. For vehicles, the Thorcom MCU500e or VR series in-vehicle devices are simply connected to the wireless device (TETRA, GPRS, MPT1327, MDS700 PMR radio), which then calculates the assets position and sends it over the radio link. In the control room, a standard Windows PC runs the Traksys-2000 software, and displays the positions on a map display. The data is received through either a fixed wireless device, or via a system infrastructure connection. Where ‘status’ is required (and supported by the mobile device), status updates are clearly displayed just underneath the mobile assets position icon. Traksys-2000 is designed to be user-friendly, and it will be familiar to anyone with general Windows experience. Traksys-2000 includes all the management tools required to operate the system in a single toolbar. For ease of configuration, step-by-step instructions are provided to assist with adding and removing vehicles from the fleet. Traksys-2000 also provides a group set-up form which allows larger fleets to be viewed and managed in conveniently sized groups.
The following benefits can be gained when using Traksys-2000:
The Traksys-2000 system comprises of an office based PC work-station at the control centre and one or more mobile locator units fitted into the vehicle to be tracked, or GPS-enabled hand-helds, or a mixture of the two. For vehicles, Traksys-2000 users can use the low-cost MCU500e unit, which is a self-contained ‘black box’ with a built-in GPS receiver, power control, telematics and ‘flight recorder’ capability. The communications between the control centre and the mobile locator can be provided over a number of different wireless bearers, indeed one Traksys2000 PC can connect to several wireless bearers at the same time. Users of Tetra and MPT1327 radios can make use of the location data service whilst still allowing the radio unit to be used for voice and status messages (GPRS and MDS700 PMR users are dedicated data only services) All the wireless services supported by Traksys-2000 are real-time - each AVL message is typically received at the Traksys-2000 PC within 2-10 seconds of transmission, so the end user can get a constant and up-to-date picture of the fleet at any time. Location information is compressed to fit within the smallest message limits, ensuring the lowest possible cost and maximum efficiency |
