Introduction

The RLC220 is a microprocessor based packet radio controller, or radio modem, which allows the transmission of data over a voice-grade radio channel such as those provided by Private Mobile Radio (PMR), Trunked PMR (PAMR), Marine Band, telemetry band or military radio.

Data can be transmitted error-free between locations at 1200 or 2400bps using Fast Frequency Shift Keying (FFSK).



Applications

The RLC220 is flexible general purpose radio modem that is suitable for a wide range of applications, including the following:

Mobile data for fleet dispatch (couriers, taxis, etc.)
Mobile data for Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance)
Data and file transfer on conventional PMR channels
Data and file transfer on trunked radio systems
Navigation Systems; transmission of differential correction data
Access to data loggers and data recorders
Wide area networking, for example: TCP/IP over radio
Telemetry and SCADA product variants

The RLC220 radio-modem is available in three product variants which have been optimised to suit particular applications. Each modem variant has different operating firmware suitable for use on MPT1327 networks, ETS 300.113 conventional PMR systems, or transparent ‘protocol-less’ for use in telemetry and SCADA applications.
