Networks & communications bearers This page provides additional information about ARL Gateway's support of communications networks/bearers. The ARL Gateway is an SDTS client and connects to the SDR via a TCP/IP network connection on port 6006 and registers an ISSI on the network via which it receives location data transmitted by mobile devices. The SDR software component of the ARL Gateway software (SMG) has been conformance tested with Motorola Dimetra networks running software Rev 3.4, Rev. 4.0, Rev 5.0, Rev 5.5-SER, Rev 6.0, 6.1 and Rev. 6.2 and is certified for use on the Airwave network in the UK. GPRS/GSM Networks The Thorcom implements GPRS connections to GSM operator's networks via a private leased line or VPN anabling the operation of a private APN. The ARL Gateway interfaces to the network operator's GGSN and the built-in RADIUS authentication server in the gateway controls access to the network and manages the assignment of IP addresses and resource callsigns/aliases. The integrated RADIUS server provides additional security features by identifying and authenticating individual devices and has been tested with GGSNs from Cisco, Ericcson, Juniper and others. |
